Stormproof Windows
When compared to other window designs the stormproof window is a relatively recent innovation. The casement sits proud of the frame with an extra overlapping edge creating the Stormproofing. The stormproof casement window lends itself to exposed locations and more contemporary projects.
These casement windows in wood allow a very wide range of ironmongery solutions such as multipoint locking and friction stays although butt hinges still offer a very robust a serviceable choice. Draught seals further enhance the stormproof windows weather resisting properties.
We normally advise our clients to use a durable hardwood or Accoya to maximise the life of the joinery. This is even more important when used in exposed locations where stormproof windows are typically found.
As the stormproof design is rarely used for conservation area wood windows, the glazing is normally energy saving double glazing. As always we recommend all external joinery is fully decorated before fitting and we can provide with a full decoration service.
All of our joinery is made to a high standard and when required it will comply to the latest regulations such as CE marking and U-Values.
